VDHP provides assistance to doctors and medical students who have any of the following concerns: stress and anxiety, substance use problems, mental or physical health concerns.
Advice is also provided to anyone who is concerned about a doctor or medical student. This includes family, friends, colleagues, university staff and clinical staff.
It is not uncommon to feel overwhelmed at times, especially in the medical profession.Â
There are many resources available for support, and VDHP can help you navigate your particular situation. Reach out via phone or email if you have questions about:
– Pathways and services available for doctors and medical students
– Planning viable work commitments, or a return to work, following disruption when unwell
– Discussions regarding financial supports for doctors
– Finding suitable follow-up and support
For a variety of reasons doctors and medical students can be reluctant to seek assistance. This can make it hard for a friend or family member to know how best to help. We’re happy to have a conversion (…or a second …or a third) to assist you in helping your loved one get the help and support they need.
VDHP is an advisory and collegial support service. Whilst unable to provide formal clinical work, or formal supports, we are a resource to consult for matters regarding:
– Health pathways and services available to doctors and medical students
– Support in planning for doctors returning to work
– Discussions regarding financial supports for doctors

– Pathways and services available to doctors and medical students
– Support in planning for next best steps (ie. physical care, psychiatric care, inpatient admission…?)
– Support in planning for doctors returning to work
– Discussions regarding financial supports for doctors
